The camden and regents park youth league has taken the decision to cut teams from 2 community based kids football clubs that have played in the league by 110 youth players and refused entry to 40 more and did not give any reason for doing so.
In 2011 camden council transferred the league to a private company owned by owners of a rival football club that plays in the league. The league is not properly or accountably run.
The league should be owned by all the clubs who play in it or a local independent public body to make sure decisions are fair, transparent and accountable.
The league should have elected and accountable committees to run it and have fair written rules to govern its competitions, membership and decision making.
We petition camden council and the royal parks to take such actions as is necessary and appropriate:
(1) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the transfer by camden council, of the camden and regents park youth league (the "League") in 2011 to the Camden and Regents Youth League Limited, a private company owned by persons who own a club (pro touch soccer academy limited) that participates in the League;
(2) to restore the ownership of the League to the clubs who play in the League or such other independent impartial third party, and
(3) to ensure the League adopts transparent, accountable and proper management structures including written rules for committees and the league to ensure the League is run fairly, transparently and accountably and in the best interests of the clubs, teams and children that play in the league.
