Thank you for all those that supported the store will be opening shortly.
Lidl have exchanged contracts to purchase a site at the corner of Frogmore Lane and Brownhill Way, subject to grant of planning permission. We are delighted to be in a position to commence consultation with the local community on Lidl’s proposed development of a new neighbourhood discount foodstore.
The proposed Lidl site is situated in a prominent position and would have a shopfront facing onto Brownhill Way. The site is previously undeveloped but the site is not protected by Southampton City Council planning policy and so is available for development.
Our proposal will see construction of a new Lidl foodstore to the company’s latest specification. The new specification store is larger than the older generation stores that you may be familiar with. It will be modern and efficient, offering a light spacious and attractive shopping experience for customers.
The proposal involves the creation of a new access road from Frogmore Lane for which a separate application will be submitted. Lidl will also be working with Southampton City Council, providing land and funding if deemed appropriate to improve the Frogmore Lane/Brownhill Way junction to improve capacity and decrease congestion.
We will shortly be publishing a full set of development plans on our development website (www.southampton.lidl.co.uk).
We, the undersigned, fully support Lidl’s application for a new store on Brownhill Way, Southampton.
We agree to our petition data being used by Lidl to lobby local Councillors and Southampton City Council to aid progression of the planning application. Address data may also be used to provide updates on the progress of the development / planning process. Information will not be passed to a third party, nor be used for sales purposes.
