Dear Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations
I have sent this letter to you to inform you that it is very important to consider helping the Kurdish people and their struggles to get back not only their land, but for freedom of their culture. My family and I are proud Kurdish people and would also like to have freedom so that we can live our lives as free and happy people. Unfortunately, a big critical problem is standing in our way and that is the cruel Islamic Republic of Iran. For 30 years, the Government of Iran has violently terrorized Kurds and their lives. My name is Ghassemlou Abdi and I am 10 years old, but I am not allowed to go to Iran because of my name. I am named after the most famous Kurd, Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, a man of peace. He was a successful Kurdish Leader until he was assinated in Vienna Austria on July 13th 1989 by the Iranian Government and a few of his henchmen. My Dad fought in the war against Iran for freedom. Luckily, he made it out alive unlike many other freedom fighters that died in this horrifying war. The situation of the Kurds in Iran is getting worse. The regime of Iran under the Ahmadi Nejad’s presidency still killing women by stoning them to death on the streets and hanging men and women under 18 years old in public. On Wednesday November 11th, 2009, Ehsan Fattahian was executed by the Government of Iran and they are planning to execute specifically, 13 more Kurds. I beg to you and all international communities to do whatever they can to stop the human right violation in Iranian Kurdistan. As you know, the Kurdish people are asking for their basic right as all people in the world, freedom and human rights.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Please help the Kurdish people; they are desperately looking for your kind of help.
Sincerely,
Ghassemlou Abdi, 10 year old Kurdish boy, living in Vancouver, Canada.
I have sent this letter to many Human Right Organizations, Canadian MP’s, the Canadian Prime Minister, and the President of the United States of America and the Secretary General of the United Nations.
