Allow legitimate new starters access to Jersey’s Coronavirus Payroll Co-funding Scheme
- Target:
- Government of Jersey
- Region:
- Jersey
You have the power to help small businesses and new starters in these difficult times.
Did you know that employees who started with a company after 28th February 2020 are not eligible for the Jersey Government’s Coronavirus Payroll Co-funding Scheme and therefore companies cannot claim the 80% (capped at £1,600) grant for them?
Please sign this petition to support the extension of the grant to all employees, regardless of when they started their employment. You will be helping new starters avoid an undetermined period of uncertainty with No Pay.
This problem has been well publicised in the UK media, which prompted the UK Treasury to provide “clarification” of the policy. The same needs to be done in Jersey because potentially thousands of people could be laid off or left without pay because of an apparent loophole in the government's scheme.
We, the undersigned call on the Government of Jersey to allow legitimate new starters access to the Coronavirus Payroll Co-funding Scheme. By allowing their new employer to put them on their payroll and being eligible to claim 80% (capped at £1,600) of their salary.
