Support Christmas/Winter Concerts at Schools

Christmas concerts have been in schools for decades. Families of all cultures have been involved. Grandview school has not had a winter concert for 2 years because not all the students celebrate Christmas.

Not all cultures celebrate Christmas but all cultures have traditions. People move their families to Canada because of the freedom to make their own choices including freedom of religion. Because of this, Canada has has a large variety of cultures. Also because of this, Canada seems to be changing what always have been done to accommodate the minority. Instead of saying merry Christmas, we are now suppose to say happy holidays. Some schools now no longer sing O' Canada.

It costs the school more money to do a craft/ cookie decorating night than it does to sing a few songs. Parents need to have a say weather or not schools have or don't have a winter concert. The school should not have the right to decide what is best for everyone. let the parents have a vote each year! Taking away Christmas concerts is taking away the experience and memories from the children and their families. Every other school in red deer i have spoke to still has Christmas concerts. Grandview students should get to participate as well.
