In the 12 days before the petition had to be sent to the Scottish Executive Reporter we recorded 203 signatures online and gathered an additional 159 physical signatures locally, totalling 362. This response was absolutely fantastic . It was a great encouragement to us at the Appeal. We will get the result in 6 weeks.
Thanks to everyone who signed and supported us.
A planning application for a luxury boutique hotel at Hopeman Harbour was lodged with Moray Council (ref 07/01494 FUL) in June 2007. It will be the first hotel built in Moray for around 40 years.
Moray Council support tourist developments and the economic benefits of bringing in tourists and providing 12 local jobs. However, the individual planner failed to make a decision and so an Appeal was lodged with the Scottish Executive and a Hearing will take place on 2 April 2008 (probably in Elgin or Hopeman).
The Hotel will be beautiful. It will only have 6 large rooms with en suite, all overlooking the Moray Firth and Sutherland Hills, facing the glorious sunsets. There will be a very nice nautical themed restaurant/cafe serving local foods, seafoods with a table licence only. Summer evenings on the deck with chef barbequed prawns or chicken with delicious white wines will be a real treat!
Please have a look at an article which was printed last year in our local newspaper, The Northern Scot, about our plans for the hotel.
