Target:
Thunder Bay City Council
Region:
Canada

As founding peoples, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples have unique historical, cultural and legal relationships with their fellow Canadians. The City of Thunder Bay can be a leader for reconciliation in Canada by recognizing and affirming Aboriginal and treaty rights as the foundation of our community.

In order to develop this leadership role, the City of Thunder Bay needs an Aboriginal Peoples Advisory Committee dedicated to enriching these founding relationships in all aspects of our community: culture and recreation, health and education, economic and social development, justice and political engagement.

The Aboriginal Peoples Advisory Committee would function to expand and enhance the capabilities of the Aboriginal Liaison and Elders' Advisory Council to take a leading role in representing and serving the Aboriginal community in their founding relationships within the community of Thunder Bay.

Help make Thunder Bay a leader and model of reconciliation for all of Canada, please show your support for an Aboriginal Peoples Advisory Committee by signing this petition.

miigwetch, thank you, merci

We call upon the Thunder Bay City Council to take a leadership role on the path of reconciliation by creating an Aboriginal Peoples Advisory Committee to advise council on all matters relating to the City of Thunder Bay's Aboriginal Liaison Strategy, and to the recognition and affirmation of Aboriginal and treaty rights of Canada's founding peoples as the foundation of the community of Thunder Bay.
