A new high-density development has been proposed along Sunrise Road (Planning Project #18-101) that includes a collection of 223 housing units on 34 acres of land, approximately 18 acres of which are
buildable. The units are a combination of senior and affordable housing. Because of the complexity of the issues, including but not limited to environmental concerns, We oppose re-zoning of these properties. Furthermore, we support the Sunrise Coalition’s efforts to date regarding this project, and would support their mediation with HHOC on the neighbor’s behalf.
We, the undersigned are residents and/or homeowners of the Sunrise Road area who oppose the Concept Plan that Habitat for Humanity Orange County (HHOC) has submitted for a high-density development of over 200 units in our area. The Plan contains a number of problems that have been presented in detail to the Chapel Hill Town Council that render such a high density inappropriate on this property.
