Student's Facilities Request Process Amendments

Alabama State University has not had many programs and activities this year as compared to previous years. The former facilities request process took two weeks to secure a location that would be free of charge for any official student organization. Now, it takes four weeks to secure a facility and due to budget constraints and a new overtime law in the state of Alabama (that takes effect on December 1st), we have to pay to utilize the on campus facilities which has really stifled our student life on campus.

Students, to my knowledge, were never asked for their input or solutions for determining creative ways to address these concerns while also preserving the robust student experience on our campus.

We the students of Alabama State University would like to amend the new facilities request process. We would like to do away with the four week facility request process for student organizations all together unless that space requires massive manpower and planning (Acadome, stadium, etc) We would like to keep the four-week process in place for all outside organizations that would like to use our campus space. We would like to transition back to the former two-week facility request process. We would also like to negotiate more interactive ways of securing spaces in the student center.
