Having built a factory in China several years ago iconic British company Twinings are continuing to transfer production abroad. They're building a new factory in Poland and expanding the plant in China. Their efficient and award-winning factory in North Shields, UK is closing with the loss of 293 profitable jobs. A further 130 profitable jobs will go at their plant in Andover, UK. Some say it is only a matter of time before all Twinings tea is produced outside the UK.
Twinings currently holds two Royal Warrants as suppliers to HM The Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales.
Because Twinings will soon be producing a large proportion of their tea abroad we believe they should no longer be allowed to supply the Royal Family and therefore be disallowed from displaying the Royal Warrant on their packaging.
We the undersigned call on the Royal Warrant Office to cease buying tea from Twinings thus disallowing Twinings from using the Royal Warrant on its packaging.
