We need your help! PLEASE HELP US STOP THE PROPOSED NOISE ORDINANCE! The Town of Chester, NY is trying to pass a new noise ordinance that will stop outdoor live music in the Town of Chester except for at events run by the town. Now is the time to act BEFORE it is voted into code.
What are they proposing?
Residential Zones should be under 65 decibels from 7am to 7pm.
Commerical Zones would be under 75 decibels from 7am to 7pm.
A pop-up toaster is 80 decibels. The average washing machine is 50-75 decibels. A kitchen blender is 80-90 decibels.
THIS WILL END ALL OUTDOOR LIVE MUSIC IN CHESTER, NY. No band is capable of playing lower than 75 decibels. It would also end all noise by 7pm allowing no evening music or outdoor noise at your home.
Not only will this affect those who love outdoor live music, but it will affect all residents and businesses in Chester. The businesses and their ability to support local jobs will be diminished. No Live Music. Less Support of Local Business. Less Local Jobs. The proposed ordinance is NOT in the best interest of the Town of Chester and its residents.
Please ACT NOW! Sign this petition! Send individual letters to the Town of Chester! And please, please attend the PUBLIC HEARING MEETING on July 24th at 7pm in Support! Thank you!
We, the undersigned, are not in favor of and vote AGAINST the proposed Local Law 6 Amending Chapter 66 of the Town of Chester Town Code, entitled "Noise Pollution Control" presented on June 24, 2024.
