Moreover, the proposed site is in close proximity to a school, which raises serious safety concerns for children and pedestrians. The increased traffic could pose a danger to the students and disrupt the safe, walkable environment that families in the area currently enjoy.
Additionally, the designated area for this development is intended for light industrial use, not for a large big-box store. The scale and nature of Costco do not align with the intended zoning regulations, which could lead to further complications and disruptions in the community.
Given these concerns, we believe it is imperative to reconsider the approval of the Costco development in Grandview Heights. We urge the Mayor and City Council to consider a location change from the current proposed site and if not to prioritize upgrading the road network and ensuring that any development aligns with the zoning regulations and the character of the neighborhood.

We, the undersigned residents of Surrey, BC, oppose the proposed Costco development in Grandview Heights for the following reasons:
Residential Area Impact: The site is in a residential area, and a large commercial store like Costco would disrupt the neighborhood’s tranquility and safety.
Inadequate Road Infrastructure: The current road network cannot support the expected traffic increase, with only one road in and out and limited parking access, leading to potential congestion and safety risks.
Proximity to Schools: The site is close to a school, raising safety concerns for children and pedestrians due to increased traffic.
Zoning Concerns: The area is designated for light industry, not a large big-box store, which does not align with the intended use of this zone.
