Petition to stop the HSE in their High Court bid to initiate a Do Not Resuscitate order on a child against her parents wishes.
Mito Families Ireland and our supporters call on the HSE to cease their request for a High Court order to place a Do Not Resuscitate Order on an 8 month old baby girl with Mitochondrial Depletion Syndrome.
We call on those conducting the independent medical review of the case to find against the application of the HSE.
A child's right to live or die is not a cost-benefit analysis and should never be treated as such. A finding in favour of the HSE would set a dangerous precedent for the care of all those with life limiting conditions who require life saving medical intervention.
All patients deserve and should be entitled to whatever treatment is necessary and available to them for as long as they or their guardians so choose, not until the government deems fit.
