Stop the demanding payments of University Textbooks and support our notion to include these payments in the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS)

- Australia
To those who are seeking to enrol in award courses in higher education institutions (Universities) are given the option to nominate their payment of their HECS (Higher Education Contribution Scheme) debt to be paid by the Commonwealth of Australia. In these circumstances, many required financial aids and support through the university, yet there are limited support systems in place for Prescribed Textbooks that can cost a fortune.
The HECS-HELP allows students time to gain a large enough wage before paying their HECS off through higher tax rates. Textbooks play a huge role in the success of a students degree, to include these payments into the HECS-HELP funded by the Commonwealth will support those who required financial aid. It should also be noted that many students that struggle with these fees are required to use limited library resources that are often outdated, in high demand and have time limiting schedules.
We the Committee on University Finance Support, call on the citizens of Australia to support our move to change the HECS-HELP policy to include the costs of University Prescribed Textbooks.
