Stop the council changing The Buttermarkets license

For over 20 years now The Buttermarket, Shrewsbury has been providing Shropshire with an ideal venue for various music acts and dance classes, ranging from salsa lessons and local up and coming band nights, to dance acts and live performances. The venue has earned itself a national reputation for being the ideal place to stage events and the like.

Due to a recent incident at an event when an inner city promotion hired then venue the county council now wish to review / revoke The Buttermarkets licence putting an end to all of the varied events that please so many people from the county and further a field. Obviously something has to be done to ensure that this type of incident never happens again, such measures as full searches for everybody and even the introduction of hand held metal detectors are acceptable ways to combat these issues.

However if the licensing times / conditions were to change then this would have a major effect on the venues appeal as the place to hold music, comedy and even theatre events. This loss in business could see the club be forced to possibly close its doors and even brings in the question of what then happens to the land where this historic building stands! Flats or Apartments???
