The long-finned pilot whale (Globicephala melas), also known as the Calderon Dolphin, is one of the two species of cetacean in the genus Globicephala. It belongs to the oceanic dolphin family (Delphinidae), though its behavior is closer to that of the larger whales.
The Faroe Islands, part of the kingdom of Denmark, are known for non-commercial whale hunts. Animal-rights groups criticize the hunt as being cruel and unnecessary.
According to Faroese legislation, it is also permitted to hunt certain species of small cetaceans other than pilot whales. These include: bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), white-beaked dolphin (Lagenorhynchus albirostris), Atlantic white-sided dolphin (Lagenorhynchus acutus), and harbour porpoise (Phocaena phocaena).
Why should you sign this Petition? TO STOP THIS SHAMEFUL, CRUEL ACT FROM CONTINUING.
Why is it important? THE CALDERON DOLPHIN LIKE MANY OTHER SPECIE OF DOLPHIN IS NEAR EXTINCTION AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING, IS JUST WRONG AND CRUEL.
The main participants in this MASSACRE are young teens, WHY DO THEY DO IT? TO SHOW THAT THEY ARE NOW ADULTS.
These wonderful, intelligent creatures come near Man to interact with us, only to be painfully killed for fun And they DO NOT die instantly, they are cut up to 3/4 times with thick hooks And the Dolphin lets out screams like that of a new born baby.
SO PLEASE, LET US TRY AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE, THE DOLPHINS WOULD BEG THE HUMAN RACE TO STOP HURTING THEM IF THEY COULD, BUT THEY CAN'T SO LET THE HUMANS THAT DO CARE USE OUR VOICES AND LETS BE HEARD.
