The population of squirrels and other rodents in metropolitan areas is out of control, resulting in increasing damage to trees, gardens, municipal property (garbage cans and dumpsters) and private buildings. Fires can be started by rodents gnawing on electrical cables in attics, etc.
This rodent overpopulation is caused by factors such as the lack of natural predators, the ease of access by rodents to fresh garbage, and by humans who intentionally set food out for them. Compounding the problem of human feeding is the availability of products such as "Critter Corn" (old ear corn unfit for human consumption) for sale in grocery stores.
We the undersigned demand that grocery store chains stop selling products such as "Critter Corn" that are intended for the feeding of small animals such as squirrels and that are also consumed by mice and rats.
All these animals cause damage, carry disease and there is no shortage of them even without humans supporting their unhealthy and noxious lifestyles.
