Although we were unable to stop Lapland UK going ahead at Bedgebury this year, Cllr Roy Bullock, Leader of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has said the Council was held over a barrel due to the late submission of the planning application and the nature of the event. He has also suggested Lapland UK would not be welcome on this site next year. Only time will tell if this situation prevails next year.
Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign to protect Bedgebury Forest and the AONB. In total we had over 400 signatures and letters of objection.
The Forestry Commission is now holding quarterly meetings to allow members of the public to express their views on the future of Bedgebury Forest. The meetings for 2008 are on Wednesdays 23rd January, 23rd April, 23rd July and 22nd October. A Design Plan for the High Weald Forest is currently being drafted and the Forestry Commission welcomes comments - please go to www.forestry.gov.uk to register an interest.
Thanks again.

The Forestry Commission seem intent on ruining the natural character of Bedgebury Forest with continual development of various attractions and we are concerned that if we do not speak out it will continue unchecked.
Lapland UK is the latest project and will be a major "day out" attraction comprising a village of log cabins built in the forest but construction has already commenced before a planning application has even been submitted.
We, the undersigned, object to:
1. Any further development and commercialisation of Bedgebury Forest;
2. The planning application for the construction of the Lapland UK attraction. We urge Tunbridge Wells Borough Council to refuse the application at the planning committee.
The Stop ruining Bedgebury Forest petition to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council was written by Lorraine and is in the category Environment at GoPetition.
