STOP OVERDEVELOPMENT IN OUR SUBURBS
Prevent the streets of McCauleys Beach, Thirroul, Sandon Point, Bulli and surrounding suburbs from becoming overdeveloped. Save the character of our beautiful towns, stop developers building overly condensed properties and creating congested and dangerous streets.
Local Developers have proposed the building of a 3 storey apartment block consisting of 7 X 3 bedroom and 2 X 2 bedroom units on Clyde Close in McCauleys Beach (Thirroul). If allowed to go ahead this may set the precedent for future developments to come! With a number of other medium and high density zoned areas around our towns, if allowed greedy developers could jeopardise safety on our streets and the way with live.
Clyde Close is a small cul-de-sac next to Thomas Gibson sports ground in Thirroul. On training and game days the street is already inundated with parked cars and traffic. With 17 residential blocks on the close about to be built on, plus existing properties, the street cannot cope with the increased cars and traffic the proposed unit block will bring.
To summarise:-
Clyde Close cannot cope with the additional vehicles and waste bins this development will bring. The development has 7 X 3 bedroom units and 2 X 2 bedroom units in today's terms this means at least 18 cars plus visitors, yet there are only 9 small car parking spots for the unit.
In days when the sporting grounds are in use the entire Estate and large areas surrounding will be inundated with cars parked on the streets, creating major traffic and safety issues.
There is only one vehicular entry/exit point to the McCauley Beach Estate (additional access point via Bulli was denied by council previously). This will create regular traffic jams in the Estate and on Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
This isn't just going to be an issue for Thirroul, Bulli, Woonona and all of the surrounding suburbs could have the same problem at some point.
Let's join together.
Thank you for your time.
