Stop Noise Polution in the West End

The West End in Vancouver is a friendly and for the most part, quiet neighbourhood that sits between English Bay on the south, West Georgia on the north, Stanley Park on west & Thurlow St. on east.

The major street running through the West End is Denman, and it runs north/south, closer to the park than downtown. Denman is a commercial street with an eclectic mix of retail offerings, including a few pubs, and many varied restaurants. Three main arterires intersect with Denman; W.Georgia, Robson St & Davie St. and they are also part of the West End, and they too feature retail/commercial outlets.

The further east you go from Denman on any of the three mentioned streets, the noisier they become the closer you get to downtown. Denman, however, is different since it's in the very west part of the West End, and is recognized by residents as a very quiet, joyful and respectful place to live. Certainly on a Friday or Saturday night, it is to be expected that a certain amount of noise will occur on Denman, as people are out & about, ramping up their merriment as the evening progresses. Also to be expected, certain establishments play music, even live dance music, but it typically tones down after midnight and stops after 2pm. This brings me to the point of the petition.
Cosca is a restaurant located at 1117 Denman. It bills itself as 'rustic Italian kitchen' - a lovely medium/upscale dining experience, and it is, except on Friday & Saturday nights. I say nights, but only because they are extensions of those nights, but it's really the next day because the music noise starts after midnight, and it goes thumping along until well after 3pm and sometimes after 4pm.

This loud, bass/drum-driving club music has no place in a restaurant in the first place, and certainly not one that lists midnight as its closing time, but it really has no place in the West End at all.
