- New Zealand
Our local council has allowed noisy industries to be built in the middle of a residential zone. Sand blasting, high pitched drills and saws for cutting metal can start as early as 6.30 am and finish as late as 6.30 pm five days or more a week.
Our homes have been standing here for a lot longer than these industrial sites on Consols St and Victoria St in Waihi. From time to time large fires are lit that appear to burn rubber or oil and toxic substances.
The residents immediately affected by this noise and smoke pollution demand council to do something to alleviate the intense nuisance caused by their decision to allow heavy industry to be placed in a residential zone.
We, the undersigned, call on Hauraki District Council to address the intense nuisance caused by the industrial units on Consols St, Waihi, in the form of very loud and continual, drilling and metal sawing noise.
We petition for a sound barrier to be put in place and for sand blasting to be stopped in this area.
