I am the mother of a 5 year old and a 5 month old.

My children and I decided to look for a television program to watch one Saturday morning. While channel surfing, we came across a show with high school age actors. As I went to turn the channel, they begin to show two young ladies kissing on the lips. At this point I did not know what it was about and decided to find out what the program was called.

I went to another room and watched the program until completion. It was Degrassi: The Next Generation. I was stunned! I used to watch the show when it was called Degrassi High. It was a very informative show for children 12 and older.

This should not be on at 9 a.m. on a non-cable channel.

I ask that you sign this petition to have WPHL 17 move Degrassi: The Next Generation to a later time slot.

A program that focuses on teen issues should not be shown at 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning. By doing so, they are targeting elementary school age children.

Parents should be the ones to discuss topics such as sexuality, drug use, violence, and other issues with their children when the time is right, not a television program.
