There has been MANY incidents in the community on the news regarding racial slurs/anti-Semitic graffiti at the “Ottoson Middle School” “Arlington High” and a serious non graffiti related incident at the “Thompson Elementary” located in Arlington, MA.
Ottoson Middle School was on the news numerous times for graffiti in the bathrooms.
As well as incidents at Arlington High School.
Currently, the Thompson elementary school is trying to cover up an incident that occurred in October 2021.
A minority student was threatened by a few students of privilege who made a manifesto on when, where, and how to murder her daughter.
The Arlington School District as a whole blatantly ignored this situation when it was brought to their attention.
The victims parents brought it to the attention of the DESE.
DESE found APS at fault and they are now under investigation.
These incidents occurred:
March of 2016 (OMS) February 2018 (OMS), May 2018 (AHS) and October 4, 2019.(OMS) 2020 (AHS) 2021 (Thompson) and a whole town graffiti spree by residents in August 2020 as well.
Since we have spoken up. We have been receiving backlash, and intimidation from employees of this community.
So my question is?
When will this STOP?
Arlington needs to take accountability for their deplorable actions.
All races, creeds, color and sexual orientation should co-exist in HARMONY!
It is almost 2023 people!
WHEN WILL THIS BE ENOUGH!?
Our children should feel safe in the community as well as in school.
We the undersigned,
Are calling on the Town of Arlington and ARLINGTON
PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
To cease the systematic discrimination against minorities in the town and public school district,
To cease the harassment of minority families by scare tactics and indirect threats,
In hopes that it will silence us for speaking up against these injustices.
To recognize your blatant ignorance that continues throughout the Town of Arlington, as well as the Arlington Public School district.
Town of Arlington you claim to be a non biased, diversified and inclusive community.
However, the media coverage and lengthy paper trail from more than one family/ person reflects differently and speaks for itself.
We are also asking that you publicly take accountability and admit your mistakes..
As well as making a plan and finding solutions on how to do better moving forward.
In closing, we are also asking to cease singling out families due to color, creed, religion, sexual orientation as well as social economic status.
