Stop forcing us to download Facebook messenger

Facebook has recently stopped us from receiving messages unless we download Facebook messenger. We are being forced to do this. We cannot read our messages unless the app is downloaded. There was no warning for this situation.

Facebook is taking away our rights. FB won't allow us to read or reply to messages without their app. I myself have lots of family out of town that I only contact through Facebook. Facebook is stopping me from being able to respond or communicate with others.

This is ridiculous.

If people choose to download the app then that's a decision they choose to make on their own. But regardless, we should be able to private message family and friends without a "compulsory" app.
