Because nowadays it is inconceivable that people are underestimated because of their skin color. Because over one billion citizens, how could there be only one type of beauty? Because before being white or black, we are humans.
Too much often, fair skin is linked with beauty, purity, success, etc... This dangerous belief make dark skin people have no confidence, or even worst, it can make them think they are not equal with fair skin people.
It is time to erase such discriminations. India is the country of diversity, colors, lights, etc... So lets celebrate the beauty of all Indian people.
We are calling for the ban on skin whitening products, which on the one hand incite people to deny their identity, sometimes at the cost of their health and on the other hand create unjustified complexes.
We ask that the film industry, especially Bollywood, employ more dark-skinned actors even in leading roles.
We ask that racist remarks or illustrations about dark-skinned people be punished by the authorities and banned on social networks.
Do not let the difference in skin color, which is a richness, separate us. And let's never forget that alone, we go faster, together we go further. (African proverb)
