Stop Current RRISD Boundary Proposals

1. Proposal statistics are not consistent across materials on the RRISD website;

a. In comparing the Boundary Process document with the Boundary Scenarios document, the current enrollment numbers as well as the projected enrollment numbers are not consistent.

b. In comparing the projected enrollment numbers across the comparison years for Proposals A, B & C, the total enrollment numbers for each year are not consistent.

2. If indeed the goal is to reduce crowding at the 2 middle schools (Ridgeview and Hopewell) that are over 120% of capacity, why consider proposals that are only going to shift the problem from school to school? Any proposal that does not equitably distribute enrollment to the various schools based on their capacity is unacceptable.

3. A high population of Low Socio Economic Status (SES) students tends to have the effect of lower test scores, lower accountability ratings and lower funding. Any proposal that does not include an equitable distribution of the Low SES population is unacceptable. We can't have some schools at 3 - 5% and others at 20 - 57%.

4. In year 2010, the district will be between 93% and 95% of capacity, based on the stated projections. There should not be any schools over 100%, which should include keeping neighborhoods together and limiting student travel time, as much as possible.

5. In year 2014, the district will be between 103% and 104% of capacity, based on the stated projections. There should not be any schools over 110%, which should allow for keeping neighborhoods together and limiting student travel time, as much as possible.
