Oxford Council is granting permission to build low quality houses, much worse than high rise flats built under communism. Thin walls result in noise nuisance; bad design and construction faults reduce environmental and living standards and present risks to well being and mental health.
Everybody has a right to healthy homes that they pay for. The Council does not effectively comply with local policies; builders flex the rules.
House occupiers are often denied the right to improve their houses at their own expense, for example to build extensions or conservatories
We, the undersigned, call on the Oxford City Council to improve building standards for new homes to reduce noise nuisance and improve well being and health.
We demand that the Council provide effective advice and support to house occupiers to soundproof their walls.
Mental health is as important as energy savings! We demand full and effective implementation of local planning policies.
We have a right to healthy homes and environment!
