The Government of British Columbia has given BP Canada permission to drill for coalbed methane, known as the Mist Mountain project.
BP has been under scrutiny for cutting corners relating to safety and environmental conservation in its operations since April 20, 2010 when their Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded and caused a massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Mist Mountain project threatens one of the most important wildlife corridors in North America.
We, the undersigned, call on the government of British Columbia to halt the Mist Mountain project pending a thorough B.C. Environmental Assessment review of the potential impact to the wildlife and vegetation of the project site and surrounding areas.
