We desire to establish a legal right for grandparents to have visitation access to their grandchildren, regardless of the marital status of the parents, the death of a parent, or presence of a no contact order between the parents or the parent and the child.
Grandparents should be able to talk to and visit their grandchildren, whether the loss of a parent is through death, or divorce. Grandchildren should have the same individual rights as others enjoy, the right to the love and caring they always experienced prior to such events in there lives.
The moral well-being is at stake for those children, to experience many memorable events with the families that they have known previously and would continue to have with unselfish love of grandparents on all sides.
We, the undersigned, call on the Iowa Human Services Committee, to get Grandparents Rights Laws passed in Iowa.
