Sri Lankan Muslims against Extremism and Terrorism in the name of Islam

On Sunday, 21st April, 2019 we woke up to a nightmare - the brutal terrorist attacks on Churches and hotels that claimed the lives of more than 250 innocent people and injured more than 500. We stand in solidarity and convey our deepest sympathies to every single victim. Sri Lanka is still in a highly volatile situation. We are all hurting, grieving and deeply traumatized by these events like every other Sri Lankan citizen. Sadly, this terrorist attack has been carried out by an extremist religious group in the name of Islam; who also claim to operate under the fanatic international group ISIS. As Muslims, we would like to reiterate that such actions have NO place in Islam or among Muslims.
We have lived in peace in this land for more than a thousand years and this act of terrorism in our mother land, in the name of our religion has brought us immense shock and grief. We would like to stress that this group DOES NOT represent Muslims or the Sri Lankan Muslim community in any form. As peace loving citizens, we vehemently CONDEMN this crime against humanity.

අප්‍රේල් 21 වෙනි ඉරිදා දවස ඉතා කුරිරු දවසකි. අහින්සක ජීවිත 250 කටත් අධික ප්‍රමාණයක් ගොදුරු කරගත්, තවත් 500 කටත් අධික පිරිසක් තුවාල ලැබූ ඒ මිලේඡ්ච ත්‍රස්ථ ප්‍රහාරය... විපතට පත් සියළු දෙනා වෙනුවෙන් අපගේ බලවත් ශෝකය ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටින්නෙමු. අප තවමත් මෙම කම්පනයෙන් මිදී නැත. අවාසනාවට මෙම කුරිරු ප්‍රහාරය එල්ල කර ඇත්තේ ISIS නියෝජනය මුස්ලිම් අන්තවාදී කණ්ඩායමකි.

මෙම රටේ අවුරුදු දහසකටත් අධික කාලයක් සාමයෙන් ජීවත් වුනු පිරිසක් හැටියට, මෙම ප්‍රහාරය මෙරට සිදු වූවක් බව අපට තවමත් විශ්වාස කල නොහැක. මෙම කණ්ඩායම කිසිසේත්ම මුස්ලිම්වරුන් හෝ ඉස්ලාම් දහම නියෝජනය නොකරන බව ඉතා පැහැදිලිව පෙනී යන අතර බහුතරයක් වූ සාමාන්ය මුස්ලිම් ජනතාවගේ දැඩි පිලිකුලට භාජනය වී තිබේ. අපි, සාමය පතන ජනතාව හැටියට මෙම අමානුෂික ත්‍රස්ථ ක්‍රියාව තරයේ හෙලා දකිමු.

ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை, 21ஆம் திகதி ஏப்ரல் 2019, நாம் விழித்தது ஒரு பயங்கரத்திற்கு - 250 இற்கும் மேற்பட்ட அப்பாவி உயிர்களை காவு கொண்டு 500 இற்கும் மேற்பட்டவார்களை காயப்படுத்திய மிலேச்சத்தனமான பயங்கரவாதத் தாக்குதல் இலங்கையில் கிறிஸ்தவ ஆலயங்கள், நட்சத்திர விடுதிகள், ஹோட்டல்கள் மீதும் நடைபெற்றது. பாதிக்கப்பட்ட உயிர்களுக்கு எம் ஆழ்ந்த அனுதாபங்களை வெளிப்படுத்திகிறோம். நாம் அவர்களோடு கைகோர்த்து ஒன்றாய் நிற்கிறோம். இலங்கை இன்னும் ஓர் அசாதாரண நிலையிலேயே இருக்கிறது. இந்த கோர நிகழ்வுகள் எல்லா இலங்கைப் பிரஜைகள் போல் எம்மையும் ஆழமாக பாதித்துள்ளது.
இப் பயங்கரவாத தாக்குதலை இஸ்லாம் பெயர் தாங்கி சர்வேதேச தீவிரவாதக் குழுவான ISIS வழிகாட்டலின் கீழ் நடை பெற்றிருப்பதை மிகவும் வருத்தத்துடனும், அதிர்ச்சியுடனும் அறிந்துகொண்டோம். முஸ்லிம்கள் மற்றும் இஸ்லாத்தில் இதுபோன்ற அநியாயத்துக்கு இடம் இல்லை. ஆயிரம் வருடங்களுக்கு மேலாக சமாதானமாக இந் நாட்டில் வாழ்ந்து வரும் இலங்கை முஸ்லிம்களாகிய நாம் இந்த கொடூரமான பயங்கரவாத செயலுக்கு கடும் கண்டனத்தையும் எதிர்ப்பையும் தெரிவிக்கின்றோம் - அவர்கள் முஸ்லிம்களை சார்ந்தவர்களும் அல்ல, அவர்கள் செய்தது இஸ்லாமும் அல்ல.
