Spring Township Water Authority Must Provide Transparency in Nestle Development Project

We, the undersigned citizens of Spring Township, demand complete transparency in the Spring Township Water Board's plans to work with the Nestlé Corporation for the extraction and bottling of our local water.
We recognize that a project of this scale will bring massive changes, and little to no information has been shared with us. Only the positive potential of this project has been presented to the public.
Small towns in Pennsylvania, such as Kunkletown (Eldred Township, Monroe County) having researched long term economic, social and environmental effects, decided that it was worth it to say NO to Nestle and banded together to resist Nestle's incursions on their local water.
As citizens, we demand the following:
1) A halt to any further approval of permits, land development, and public funding or tax breaks for the Nestle project until further opportunities for both public input and environmental impact studies.
2) Special meetings be held on the topic of the Nestle plant with members of the Spring Township Water Board, Nestle, PA Department of Environmental Protection, as well as earth sciences and water experts from Penn State University.
3) All customers of the Spring Township Water Authority are notified at least three weeks in advance of this meeting.
4) The meeting is posted on the Spring Township website, publicized on WPSU community radio and through other social media channels as well as in the Centre Daily Times.
