A national 64-day educational, media, and grassroots campaign dedicated to demonstrating that nonviolence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives and our communities.
Inspired by the 50th and 30th memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this international event honors their vision for an empowered, nonviolent world.
Children and youth born and visiting our province, B.C., are surrounded and besieged by violence in many forms...
We, the undersigned, petition the Honourable Margaret MacDiarmid, Premier Christy Clark, all members of B.C.'s Parliment, all B.C. city and town councils, and all local school boards... including International School administrators.
To work for the passage of legislation that allows and encourages students, parents and teachers
to participate in activities in their school classes, clubs and after school programs that promote learning and model techniques for nonviolence. To introduce students and their mentors to the Season for Nonviolence and to support the existing programs in our schools, such as the Virtues Project, with the tools to take the value from being theory into action and an actual experience.
Let a committee of the student council be in charge of celebrating the Season for Nonviolence from January 30th to April 4th, the assassination dates of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. respectively.
Let the ideals of nonviolence resound in the halls of our educational institutions and give students a voice for peaceful relationships as they face violence in their daily lives.
