In Sept. 2008, Cobb county voters approved a SPLOST tax to fund capitol improvements at schools. The five-year tax is expected to generate about $586,000 million based on current projections. The district plans to use $16 million on physical education facility improvements, the bulk of which include putting synthetic turf on fields.
Pebblebrook was one of the first schools set to have field turf and upgrades performed to the school but has since been moved behind more "un-urban area" schools.
We, the parents and supporters of Pebblebrook High School, call on the Cobb County Board of Education to revisit the time of installation of turf, and facilities improvements by splost funds.
We feel that Pebblebrook is in need of our upgrades more so than some of the "YOUNGER" schools in the county.
Even though we are scheduled to get these improvements later in the year, our student morale, student involvement and income potential for the upcoming football and school year is greatly affected by the change in installation time.
