I want to start off by saying thank you to all of the supporters of this petition.
We have collected enough signatures to present this petition to the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation Board of Directors. Our petition should be sufficient to request another community meeting. The next board meeting is scheduled for March 12, and if you are able, I encourage you to attend board meetings as they are open.
I am hoping for a timely and decent response from this petition, as we all have some questions that need answers. We need to see the accountability and transparency that we were promised at work, This is by holding another community meeting, and having members come out to seek the truth.
If the AWN board deems this petition insufficient, there will be a membership response.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact me. I will attach my email address, as well as my phone number.
Thank You,
Alyssa McDonald

In order to officially request an open Special General Meeting, or Town Hall Meeting, with Aseniwuche Winewak Nation leadership, the members have to sign a petition to request the meeting. We need 60 signatures to the petition to have it recognized by the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation Board of Directors.
This is not a personal attack on any one member of the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation Board of Directors. This is simply a request for transparency and accountability.
This is a request for an open Town Hall Meeting, with a significant question and answer period. We would request that this meeting be held within a timely fashion, and we would request a timely response. There are concerns regarding issues that cannot wait several months for a response.
This request also asks that if another meeting is held, the Board of Directors must ensure that dialogue from the Board is carried out in English, and a separate Cree Language Interpreter is available for those who prefer to converse in the Cree Language.
There are members of Aseniwuche Winewak Nation who would like a Town Hall meeting following the February 16, 2019 Annual General Meeting. Many members attended the 2019 AWN AGM to express concerns and ask questions, but feel we were not given enough time or felt welcome to do so. We feel as though questions were not answered to their fullest extent, and would like to extend to you the opportunity to answer them completely. We would like to avoid a lengthy one sided discussion, and truly be given the opportunity to exercise our democratic right to ask questions of our leadership.
Some of our questions and concerns include: a complete and knowledgeable breakdown of the financial statements that were placed on the tables at the 2019 AWN AGM, a breakdown of where we sit with our Land Claim Negotiations-Do we still have the opportunity to negotiate with Canada?, a breakdown as to why there have been so many board and staffing changes, as well as many other questions.
We, the Members of Aseniwuche Winewak Nation request a Special General Meeting with the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation Board of Directors. This Special General Meeting will allow for Aseniwuche Winewak Membership to have questions answered directly by the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation Board of Directors.
This request complies with the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation Society of Canada, A Fellowship of Aboriginal Peoples By-Laws, particular to Section 11: Petition.
