The "no smoking ban" has been given government approval and is now in opreration in most of the U.K.
"Smoke-On-Trent" is a rare exception.
As a non-smoking member of this society, I would prefer that all members of this society had a "freedom" of choice.
I fully agree that it is un-acceptable to smoke in public places such as shopping centres, hospitals etc, however places where people socialise, pubs, private members clubs, it should be left to the individual members, publicans etc to declare and to advertise, as they do for "Karaoki", big screen sport, pool etc, and let the individual choose whether to frequent the place or not.
This is the start of the eradication of what we laughingly call "FREEDOM OF CHOICE" even more so "Civil Freedom".
Let us scrap the "NO SMOKING BAN" in its present form. It is ill-thought, ill conceived, and a threat to civil liberties.
