St. Charles Parish has many young skaters, bmxers and scooter riders that are lacking the equipment and support they need to fine tune their skill and progress in their sports to the fullest. This petition is to show support and to prove that there is a genuine local need for a concrete skatepark in St. Charles Parish.
Skateparks are proven to increase health, well-being, community cohesion whilst reducing social exclusion and anti-social behavior. Giving local people a real place to meet and participate in will allow for very healthy interaction with the cities young people. St. Charles Parish currently has no place for the kids to enjoy this sport. The skatepark will not only benefit skatepark users, it will enhance the town and will be an asset to the whole community. People travel miles for a good spot to skate, so bringing such a spot to St. Charles Parish would be massively beneficial for local business, bringing a boost to our tourism too. If nothing else, think of it as an investment in the local community, the benefits are endless. We are asking for the St. Charles Parish council to build a skatepark for our youth.
