Today snow fell thickly in Aberdeenshire, but Portlethen Academy was left open. All the other schools (bar one other) in Aberdeenshire had closed.
I was told this was because our school is owned by the company 'Robertsons', not the council, and it was their decision to close us up for a snow day.
But, Robertsons didn't send us home until lunch time because it would cost them money to send us home.
We, the undersigned, believe that Robertsons, the owners of Portlethen Academy, should send pupils home if there are severe weather conditions like today's (Feb 05, 09).
