Say NO to Planning Application 11/1173 Bettws

We, the undersigned, call on Newport City Council to oppose planning permission be granted at said site on the basis:

The dwelling is in the countryside and no agricultural or forestry need exists to justify its erection, and because the access would be detrimental to highway safety.

The effect of the proposal on the character and appearance of the area and the implications of the proposal for road safety.

Policy H7 of the Adopted Newport Unitary Development Plan states that houses for agricultural workers would only be allowed in such a location where a justifiable need exists.

There is no justifiable case stating that the dwelling is to accommodate an agricultural worker, the proposal is contrary to Policy H7.

The proposal also does not comply with the Plan’s policies as regards the maintenance of the rural character of the countryside between settlements.

Because of the narrowness of the highway and the proposed access’s restricted forward visibility, there would be unacceptable implications for highway safety.
