Say NO to Parking Charges for Teachers

Many of us would have heard about the implementation of parking charges for teachers and staff who park their car in the school car park.

We all know that teachers are amazing individuals who go the extra mile to share the joy of learning with their students. They arrive in school as early as 7am in the morning, perhaps even before the sun has risen and many of them are only able to leave the school at 7pm, 12 hours later, after the sun has set. Well, they don't just teach or mark. Many of our teachers take on the role of leading a CCA, settling their form class's administrative matters and plan for the next major school event. Others take on various roles such as helping to timetable or going out for a meeting with teachers from the other schools. And to put things into context, it is technically quite impossible for a teacher who is staying in Tanah Merah to make it to his/her school in Jurong (for example) by 7am if he/she decides to take the public transport. Don't we all think that it is only fair for these dedicated individuals to have free parking in the school's car park? (They aren't paid for OT FYI)

Considering another perspective, if the teachers were to choose to not park in the school's car park, will the school's car park be a waste of space? Then, if the school's car park were to be opened to the public who could pay to park there, would it pose a safety hazard to the students?
