Midlothian Council have withdrawn their funding to Volunteer Centre Midlothian. The Volunteer Centre acts as a "job centre" for volunteers and has recruited over 1400 volunteers over the past 3 years. We deliver our service in Midlothian to the people and communities of Midlothian.
The Council is not willing to support us despite the fact we contribute significantly to meeting the single outcome agreement and the community planning process. We meet a substantial need through contributing to education; regeneration; mental health and well being; community safety and environmental agendas.
Increasing unemployment has led to large numbers of people seeing volunteering as a means to help them back into work; we therefore need more support not less.
If we do not receive Council funding our service will be seriously cut in an irreparable way.
SUPPORT US OR LOSE US!
Volunteer Centre Midlothian promotes and develops volunteering in Midlothian. As a Midlothian service it should be funded by Midlothian Council.
We, the undersigned, strongly support the case for Midlothian council to re-instate funding to Volunteer Centre Midlothian.
