FACTS ABOUT OUR GREAT LAKES:
•At 17,500 kilometres, the total length of Great Lakes shorelines is equal to almost 44 per cent of the circumference of the Earth.
•The drainage basin of the Great Lakes covers about 775,000 square kilometres — an area the size of France.
•40 million people living in Canada and the U.S. get their drinking water from the Great Lakes.
•One quarter of Canada's agricultural production is grown in the Great Lakes Basin.
•Less than 1 per cent of the waters of the Great Lakes are replaced each year by rain and snow, surface water runoff, and groundwater flowing into the lakes.
•At least 185 non-native species have been introduced to the Great Lakes. On average a new aquatic invasive species arrives every six to nine months.
•Lake Superior has the largest surface area of any freshwater lake in the world and is the largest, deepest and coldest of the Great Lakes.
•Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron is the largest freshwater island in the world, and one of more than 32,000 islands in the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River.
•Lake Erie, the shallowest of the Great Lakes, supports the largest walleye fishery in the world.

We, the undersigned, call upon the Canadian government to take immediate action on conglomerates, companies, and corporations to:
1. Stop all and any and all spillage of waste and toxins into our Great Lakes immediately.
2. To develop, update, regulate, and enforcement laws which make it illegal to dump into the Great Lakes, making is a serious offense to dump waste or toxins or by-product into our Great Lakes either by being negligent or without due care or knowledge of same.
3. To set substantial fines against any companies, corporations, and conglomerates who knowingly continue to dump toxins, neglect to upgrade their facilities, and to ensure that there are safety standards and regulatory practices for handling of toxins, by-products, and waste.
4. To assist with education, and incentives or funding required to improve waste/sewage facilities as deemed necessary to maintain quality assurance of handling of waste products.
5. To hold waste/sewage facilities accountable under law for being negligent and who continue to put untreated waste materials, by products, and toxins into our water supply (The Great Lakes).
6. To assist, acknowledge, and support research and researches by:
a). sharing vital information about the use of chemicals and toxins by facilities which have direct correlation to the destruction of our Great Lakes
b). To share the outcome of all research with the public of the ramifications on the environment, and on the people.
7. To publish quarterly the names of corporations, companies, conglomerates are non compliant with following environmental regulations and continue to destroy our Great Lakes for their own gain and profit.
