The United States Post Office announced late last month that the post office in Bonnerdale, AR was on a list of 3,700 offices nationwide that will be involved in a 138 day study to determine if they should be closed.
Shut downs could start as early as January 2012 if we do not act immediately ! The Bonnerdale Post Office services many other outlying areas as well, including Alamo, Crossroads, Glenwood, Hickory Station, Mazarn, Meyers, Mt Moriah, Oma, Peak, Pearcy, Plata, Point Cedar and Segur.
We the undersigned are concerned citizens, call on the federal lawmakers to act now and not close the Bonnerdale, AR 71933 Post Office. The Bonnerdale, AR post office has long served the town of Bonnerdale, AR and the rural Hot Spring, Pike, Montgomery and Garland County area residents and business.
The Bonnerdale post office serves a unique customer base that includes many business & professionals, farmers and elderly residents who rely daily on the convenient and local services provided by its close proximity. That includes the services of PO Boxes, distribution of government checks and mail order medicine to name a few.
Closing this post office will create an undue burden for many residents of the above FOUR Counties, that cannot afford the cost to drive the 25 to 45 mile round trip to a local post office. Therefore we oppose its closure.
