After the murder of 8 year old Robert Manwill in 2009, who was a student at New Plymouth Elementary, a swing was donated to the school in honor and memory of him. It was installed in the front of the elementary school, and countless children and adults were able to enjoy it for several years. The swing was removed from the campus in 2015, for safekeeping while the elementary underwent romodeling. Now that the remodeling is finished, The Robert Manwill Event group asked the school district to reinstall the swing. The family of Robert has requested that the swing be reinstalled in front of the elementary, citing that Robert would want it there. Even though the maintenance crew for the district has assured the district that the swing would be installed meeting safety requirements, the district has chosen to place the swing in the city "green belt". Many patrons and staff members of the New Plymouth schools, would like the swing to be reinstalled in front of the elementary, where it will be well looked after, and cherished.
We the undersigned, call on the New Plymouth School District to reinstall Robert's Swing in front of the elementary.
