The land between North Hailsham and Hellingly located in the triangular space in between New Road, Park Road and the A271 is once again under threat of development.
This is the third time in 8 years developers are trying to eradicate this beautiful buffer of land between the North of Hailsham and Hellingly area.
Developers purchased the land six years ago fully aware that hundreds of residents did not want them to develop it. Now the residents of North Hailsham and Hellingly need to stand together and fight this agenda to the end.
If we lose there will no longer be a difference between Hailsham and Hellingly, the areas will be merged. Not only that, but development will continue for at least three years. All surrounding homes will be overlooked and devalued. Worst of all the wildlife and peaceful environment we value so dearly will be lost!
The impact on sewage works, traffic density, lack of transport links, land drainage and the development of farmland over brownland sites are also major concerns we don't don't want to have.
Please sign this petition and join North Hailsham and Hellingly Residents Union in its opposition.
NB: Becoming a member does not commit you to anything, i.e. attending meetings or contributing financially or a membership contract. Simply put a petition has some weight, but a Residents union which can say we represent 700 members is much more powerful. This advise was given directly from a councillor.
We, the undersigned, call on Wealden District Council Hailsham to remove the land between North Hailsham and Hellingly, located in the triangular space in between New Road, Park Road and the A271 from the list of potential future building sites it has identified in its Core Strategy.
We call on the council to protect it indefinitely from all future development. The impact on sewage works, traffic density, lack of transport links, land drainage and the development of farmland over brownland sites are also major concerns we don't don't want to have.
It is an area of natural beauty which is rich in wildlife such as bats, Pheasants, Nuthatches, Blue tits, Woodpeckers and many more beautiful birds and other creatures. It is integral to the peace and quiet the local community share and adds value to our homes.
