HISD's audit proposes to cut 55 of 113 HISD magnet programs, including Jeff Davis' Hotel & Restaurant Management Magnet Program.
HISD spends about $25 million, less than 2 percent of its overall budget, on all the magnet programs, including transportation. The report does not specify the cost savings of the recommendations.
We, the undersigned, call on Dr. Grier and the HISD Board of Trustees to not cut the magnet program at Jeff Davis High School.
We believe it is an important part of the school and community given that it is the only magnet program within the feeder pattern.
