Save Our Garden

My name is John and I live in Ardrossan.

I have lived here for over 20 years and for the past 4/5 years I have maintained the garden at the back of my block of flats (flats no 96, 98a, 98b, 98c and 98d) and have put in a lot of time and money to landscape and maintain the property.

I also suffer from anxiety and depression and have found that the garden, maintenance and growing my fruit and vegetables helps me deal with this. It was especially helpful for me during 2020/21 when I was furloughed from my work with the recent pandemic.

It has now been brought to my attention from Alister Cherry, at North Ayrshire Council, that they are considering to split the garden up and chip them over.

On one hand, you have the council complaining that tenants don't maintain their gardens, and and yet they now have a tenant that is not only maintaining the garden for themselves but also for the benefits of there neighbours.
And on the other hand, you have them also complaining that tenant DONT maintain their gardens, and they need to spend money making the areas maintenance free.
