Mr. Langill is preparing the staff report to be presented at April’s meeting and your voice needs to be included!!! Let him know you are not happy with the cancellation of our buses and why!
Georgetown South School Buses remain in jeopardy. THE HALTON CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD VOTED 7-1 IN FAVOUR OF REMOVING the Exception to Policy II-24 that allows our children to be transported to and from Christ the King by school bus.
THIS 'FROM THE BOOKS' VOTE TOOK PLACE ON FEBRUARY 17, 2009 WITH NO INFORMATION BEING CIRCULATED IN ADVANCE to the families of Students who rely on busing to and from school.
March 10th Update: On March 3rd our delegation presented at the Board of Trustees meeting. As a result of our strong numbers of supporters the Board agreed to re-evaluate the issue of bussing in Georgetown South. We are currently awaiting a Board staff report and continue to lobby the trustees, Ministers of Provincial Parliament, the Minister of Education and the school council. We will be taking a bus to the next Board meeting on April 14th and again request any and all residents who will be impacted by this decision to come with us and show the strength of our opposition to the proposed changes to our bussing and walking distances.
PLEASE PASS along this information to everyone you know in Georgetown South who has a child in school. This affects both public and Catholic Boards and future students as well as those presently attending.
We, the undersigned, request that the Halton Catholic District School Board reinstate the exception to Policy II-24 and continue to provide school bus transportation to and from Christ the King School for students in Area D - Georgetown South.
