House Bill 3102 developed out of the Health & Human Resources Committee calls for selling Hopemont Hospital in Terra Alta, WV. sponsored by Delegate Joe Ellington, R-Mercer Co.

Hopemont is in a rural part of WV. This county has one of the state ran nursing facilities. It is the home of about 60 indigent elderly folks. For many...We are the only family they have. Our staff doesn't make a lot of money ( social work $13/hr) and still give them extras like Dairy Queen or a treat from McDonalds. Because of HIPPA laws we can't share with the community all the wonderful things we do with them and the true quality of life we give them. The problem is our state feels that these facilities (7 throughout the state & we are located top part of state) are not needed and they are trying to shut us down. This concerns me and so many others. I don't know what will happen to not just these people but future people like these...ones who have no families and have dementias or are elderly with mental disorders and no insurance. Please don't let this happen...write or call your legislators , sign the petition and remind them that these are living breathing people and we won't tolerate putting a dollar amount on their lives...
TAKE A STAND!!!

We the undersigned, call on the delegates of the legislature to STOP House Bill 3102 and consider the ramification it would have on our elderly population, our county and our state.
