The mission of César Estrada Chávez Dual Language Immersion Charter School is to develop bi-literate students whose strong academic and multi-cultural foundation prepare them to meaningfully participate in their families, their community, and their world to create a more just and equitable society.
César Chávez Charter School (CCCS) is a charter school that is authorized by the local Board of Education and every five years the Board votes on renewing our charter, our legal authority to operate as a school. The charter expired on October 12 and the Superintendent of the Santa Barbara Schools does not support our renewal efforts. The hundreds of satisfied CCCS parents and all community members who support us in our mission are rallying to let the Board know that this is a community school and the community is weighing in on the decision.
No vote is scheduled, but there will be much discussion at the meeting on Tuesday, November 10th. CCCS supporters will gather at the school at 5:30 p.m. at the Wilson St. gate between Mason St. and Yanonali, and then peacefully march in unity to the School District Office at 720 Santa Barbara St. for the 7:00 p.m. meeting.
