Dear petition signatories,
I would like to thank you on behalf of Coventry Citizens Advice bureau for supporting our petition. You may have heard that the government has announced a further one year extension to the Financial Inclusion Fund that will enable the bureau to maintain this vital service to our clients. We are very grateful for the support from local people, local press and the Coventry Members of Parliament for supporting this campaign. However, this is only a reprieve for one year, and I hope you will be able to support the bureau once more should we face similar challenges in the future.
Charley Gibbons
Chief Executive
Coventry Citizens Advice Bureau
Coventry Citizens Advice Bureau’s debt advice service is funded by the Government’s Financial Inclusion Fund. The Financial Inclusion Fund is due to end at the end of March this year.
This will mean the closure of a service that has helped 7,500 families in the Coventry area in the last five years. In the last year alone the Coventry CAB debt team have helped 1500 families, saved 267 homes and have managed £28 million worth of debt.

We the undersigned confirm our opposition to the Government’s decision to withdraw funding from the Financial Inclusion Fund which will have the effect of removing access to free and independent debt advice from the citizens of Coventry at a time when they need it most.
We call upon the Government to recognise the valuable service provided by Coventry Citizens Advice Bureau’s debt advice team and to take steps to ensure that alternative funding is made available.
The Save Coventry CAB's Debt Advice Service petition to HM Government was written by Coventry CAB and is in the category Miscellaneous at GoPetition.
